There are two type of forms to be used when one is interested in applying for any suitable vacancies within the Civil Service (Ministries and Departments). These forms are 16A and 16B. Form 16A is meant for junior positions i.e. Grade 6 of the integrated pay scale and below. This form is relevant to those applying for clerical and sub-professional positions within the civil service. Form 16B is meant for positions on Grade 7 of the integrated pay scale and above. This form is thus relevant to those with a higher education degree and professional qualifications.
All central government vacancies (from Grade 3 – 12) are advertised on the authority of the Public Service Commission (PSC) through all major newspapers in The Gambia, the PSC website and the Personnel Management Office (PMO) website. Following advertisement of any vacancies and depending on the grade of the position being advertised, one may download the requisite form, fill and attach all relevant documents including a birth certificate, passport size photo, CV, copies of academic certificates and other supporting documents and send by email to info@psc.gov.gm. The application must be received by the PSC on or before the closing date of the advertisement. Following the close of the advertisement, the file of applications is sent to the relevant Ministry or Department where the vacancies exist to schedule a suitable date where that institution, the PMO and PSC will convene a meeting for shortlisting.
Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for interview by the PSC. Shortlisted Gambians who are living in the Diaspora are also interviewed using WhatsApp, Skype and other means through which the candidate is available.
Vacancies of other public institutions outside the civil service are advertised through other means and these advertisements are either sanctioned by the relevant Board or the DG/MD depending on the level of the position being advertised. These institutions include but are not limited to:
